There are many options to financially support the Cathedral and some parishioners prefer to place their offering on the collection plate during the service. For many, the public act of giving is a powerful expression of our gratitude to God.
If you have elected to donate when the collection plate is being passed in church, here are a few helpful tips:
- We strongly recommend that if your offering is in cash, please use an envelope with your name and address so that you can receive a tax deductible receipt for the year. The Cathedral provides tax receipts for annual donations totalling a minimum of $20. Weekly or monthly donations add up and can be a worthwhile tax credit on your income tax return.
- Please consider using numbered envelopes even if you're donating monthly vs weekly. Using a dedicated number means that you don't have to write your name and address each time you donate. The donor is identified by the number assigned to them. We currently have a surplus supply of numbered envelopes so please do not hesitate to ask for a set by contacting our Donations Administrator.
- Alternatively, we recommend donating by cheque vs cash. Cash on the offering plate cannot be donor-identified. A cheque with your name and address provides a paper trail, allowing us to get that tax receipt to you.
We invite you to discuss any questions or concerns with our Donations Administrator.
