Born in the UK, Karen moved to Ontario from Kent, England, where she worked for 12 years at the Diocese of Canterbury in Safeguarding/Safe Church, and the Social Justice Network. Although moving to Canada was a major change for her and her family, having served as an officer in the Royal Signals and later having spent several years living in Singapore, she is not a stranger to adventure.
Karen is now excited to focus her faith and skills on our Cathedral Parish. She says, “As a person of faith, I want to use my existing skills and experience to work with the Cathedral team to maintain and enrich fruitful relationships, high quality of worship, and a place where God can be encountered. I feel the role of Parish Assistant at Christ's Church Cathedral in Hamilton is an excellent opportunity for me to realize this ambition to serve.’’
Living in Waterdown, Karen and her family have immersed themselves in their vibrant church community at St. John’s Anglican Church, Burlington, where her husband, Stewart, serves as Rector. She’s not entirely left her English roots behind though; she still makes a jolly good cup of tea!
The Cathedral Office is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm. Clergy office hours vary, however, all staff members can be reached by email or by leaving a phone message.
We acknowledge that we gather on the lands occupied by the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe nations at the time of the creation of the "Dish With One Spoon" wampum agreement. We honour and respect these nations and commit ourselves to walk together gently upon this land.
