Every summer the Cathedral adjusts the worship schedule in recognition that many are away at cottages, on vacation, or just wanting to be outdoors with family and friends. The outcome is that Cathedral attendance is lower than most of the rest of the year and that results in a significant drop in donations during the summer months.
The Cathedral's day-to-day operations do not stop. Lights are still on. Bishopsgate still needs to be looked after. The Cathedral Café is still in full operation. Staff are still being paid. Property improvements and care continue.
