As Canada continues to navigate its relationship with the United States, we must remain vigilant as governments shape our economic future.
Clean energy and economic growth can work together. Around the world, progress is being made. India has already reached its goal of producing half its electricity from non-fossil fuels, five years ahead of schedule. The European Union is on track to reduce emissions by 55 percent by 2030. China has lowered emissions this year even while electricity demand has grown.
Canada has an opportunity to become a global leader through a national energy grid that builds on our strength in clean, reliable power. We are also called to stand with Indigenous peoples and to press for strong environmental protections.
