We are pleased to extend an invitation to attend the first of two Naloxone Training sessions being held at the Cathedral.

Naloxone is a medication that temporarily counters the effects of opioid overdose. The naloxone training is for any non-medically prepared individual, who might be in the position to respond to an opioid overdose. Training addresses prevention, recognition, and treatment of an opioid overdose, including administration of the opioid antidote, naloxone.

Hamilton, like many other communities is facing an opioid crisis.  Opioid-related deaths are increasing annually in Hamilton.  Between 2005 and 2020, Hamilton had a higher rate of opioid-related deaths when compared to the provincial average.  In 2019 there were 105 probable or confirmed deaths in Hamilton, compared to 2021 at 165 deaths.
