On Sunday February 8, at the 10:30am Eucharist Service Christ's Church Cathedral will celebrate with thanksgiving the 150th anniversary of our consecration as the Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Canada in the Diocese of Niagara.
Although our Cathedral has been a place of worship since 1835, this 150th celebratory year relates to the date when the Act to Incorporate the Synod of the Diocese of Niagara received Royal Assent. In practice the Cathedral may have obtained status earlier, but in law, we became a cathedral when the diocese was formally incorporated, on February 10, 1876.
We are all invited to celebrate this year as the Cathedral community along with distinguished guests from the city of Hamilton.
