As the Russian invasion of Ukraine advances and there continues to be more civilian casualties, the humanitarian suffering increases.  Many have been killed or wounded. In addition,  thousands are now lacking access to basic needs such as water, electricity, medicine, and food.  Approximately two million people have fled already to other countries for safety.

PWRDF has given an initial grant of $20,000 in response to an appeal by one of its partners, ACT Alliance. This grant will help fund the work of an ACT member, Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA). For more than  twenty-five  years, HIA has been working in Ukraine in humanitarian and development projects.

Already Hungarian Interchurch Aid has shipped twenty-eight tons of food to support Ukrainians fleeing to Hungary, and their staff have been working with refugees at the Ukraine/Hungary border.

Here are the stories from three of those seeking refuge from the war.  Click here to read about their journeys to the Berehovo, Ukraine/Hungary border crossing here.
