St. Luke's Hospital in the West Bank2026 Alongside Hope Wild Ride There are a lot of excellent programs being highlighted on the Alongside Hope website this month. We have partnerships with a housing project for adults with special needs in the Ukraine, partnerships in Uganda as Ebola threatens vulnerable communities and partnerships with St. Luke’s hospital in the West Bank. The last story leads us to the upcoming Wild Ride in the fall. This year we’re raising funds to provide solar panels for St. Luke’s Hospital. St. Luke’s serves about 455,000 people in the West Bank, but unreliable power makes health care precarious. An article by Janice Biehn is available on Alongside Hope's website can be accessed here: The power of community health care in the West Bank© Last year we raised money for Madagascar and Mozambique, providing 34 solar suitcases. This year the plan is to raise funds to provide 407 solar panels for the West Bank. It is estimated 80% of the electricity needed can be supplied by these panels. Please join us at this year’s Wild Ride, which will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 am. We will be travelling the same route as last year, at Bayfront Park. You can walk, run or bike. Thank you everyone for your support. Please follow this link to join or donate to Alongsidehope Wild Ride. Please note that the link will take you to the Wild Ride Donation page. Scroll to where it says Donate Now and once you've completed your donation details, please scroll down a bit more and in the Assign to a Team field type in Cathedral Crusaders, then go to the very bottom and click on Continue with my donation. PLEASE NOTE: Do not to be confused with Alongside Hope - Christ Church Cathedral (there’s more than one), only use Cathedral Crusaders. |

Climate Justice CathedralAction for August 2026 Three young people and two environmental groups are asking the Federal Court to order Ottawa to develop a climate plan that achieves Canada's legally binding 2030 climate targets. The case alleges the federal government, through recent climate policy changes, is violating Canada's climate accountability act. "We are the ones who will be facing and living with the consequences" said one of the youth. Let us keep these courageous young people in our prayers! For more details, we invite you to read this article by David Thurton: CBC News · © |

Summer Donations
Every summer the Cathedral adjusts the worship schedule in recognition that many are away at cottages, on vacation, or just wanting to be outdoors with family and friends. The outcome is that Cathedral attendance is lower than most of the rest of the year and that results in a significant drop in donations during the summer months. Why Does that Matter? The Cathedral's day-to-day operations do not stop. Lights are still on. Bishopsgate still needs to be looked after. The Cathedral Café is still in full operation. Staff are still being paid. Property improvements and care continue. Here's the good news!Donations can now be made through digital platforms, allowing parishioners to support your Cathedral from anywhere. Here are our top three options:
Note: For more details, please click on any of the highlighted text above. We ask that you please give this your prayerful consideration. If you need some help or have concerns or questions, please email Paula Esteves, our Donations Administrator. |

Cathedral CaféNo Longer Accepting Donations of Clothing Effective immediately the Cathedral Café will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF CLOTHING. Thank you for your generosity and support over the past years. After much thought and consideration, we have made the decision to close the clothing room. In an attempt to reevaluate the clothing donation portion of the Cathedral Café program, it was found that the volume of donations, time to sort and organize, lack of consistent volunteers to manage, staff time to search for items and space constraints prohibits us from effectively distributing clothing. There are many other organizations that provide this service effectively. We will revisit the need in the fall and possibly target requests (eg. Coats). If you have clothing donations, they can be taken to: Eva Rothwell Centre – 460 Wentworth St. North Venture Centre (Good Shepherd) – 155 Cannon St. East Living Rock – 30 Wilson St. Helping Hands – 669 Barton St. East St. Vincent De Paul – 429 Barton St. East As indicated, we will communicate with you on targeted needs of the guests of the Cathedral Café. Please continue to keep the Cathedral Café and guests in your prayers. With continued thanks, Kerry Lubrick on behalf of the Cathedral Café Operations Committee |
