2026 Our 150th Anniversary!
On Sunday February 8, at the 10:30am Eucharist Service Christ's Church Cathedral will celebrate with thanksgiving the 150th anniversary of our consecration as the Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Canada in the Diocese of Niagara. In essence, although our Cathedral has been a place of worship since 1835 this 150th celebratory year relates to the date when the Act to Incorporate the Synod of the Diocese of Niagara received Royal Assent. In practice the Cathedral may have obtained status earlier, but in law, we became a cathedral when the diocese was formally incorporated, on We are all invited to celebrate this year as the Cathedral community along with distinguished guests from the city of Hamilton. Watch out for more celebratory event information coming soon! |

Invitation to join a conversation!
If you are interested in how we organize the participation of lay people in Sunday services at Christ’s Church Cathedral, you are invited to attend a conversation on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 5 pm at the Cathedral (Niagara Room). Pizza supper will be provided. Background: For many years now, the participation of lay members of the Cathedral congregation in Sunday liturgies - as greeters, readers, intercessors, communion ministers and coffee hour hosts - has been an important part of life at Christ's Church Cathedral. Nothing has changed - this is one of the things about our church that drew Dean Tim to apply for his current job. To facilitate lay participation, the congregation was organized into four teams: Andrew, Bede, Thomas, and Veronica, with each team on duty one Sunday in four. The team leader is responsible for finding at least two greeters, two readers, an intercessor, three communion ministers, and people to staff coffee hour and supply goodies. They do this by inviting people on their team to participate by phone, email or in person. |

The Litany of ReconciliationPlease join us. Fridays 12:15 -12:30 pm As a member of the Community of the Cross of Nails, we gather weekly at noon on Fridays to pray for peace, justice, and reconciliation. We start our prayer with: We stand together at this Friday noon hour to join with all those churches, schools, and other institutions who have committed themselves to the Community of the Cross of Nails. We search for reconciliation between ourselves and all those who have been harmed by war, by violence, by the effects of colonization and abuses of power, and by greed, selfishness, thoughtlessness and indifference. Please click on Litany of Reconciliation for the prayer in its entirety. A brief history of the Litany of Reconciliation can be found on The Anglican Diocese of Ontario website.
