Immediately following the 10.30am service on January 4, God willing, we will be dedicating to God’s glory the recently renovated Myler Hall kitchen.  We are giving thanks particularly for the dedication and hard work of all those who have contributed to the project’s completion. The end result is extraordinary, far exceeding our expectations. It will mean that the St. Matt’s staff and volunteers are much better placed to continue to serve the significant needs of our 175 guests who drop in each day, on average. We would love to have you join us for the dedication of the space followed by coffee and cake.

Epiphany marks the end of the Christmas season, which falls on the 12th day after Christmas - January 6th. More recently, the Feast of the Epiphany is celebrated on a Sunday between January 2nd & 8th.  The Cathedral will recognize the Feast of the Ephiphany at our Sunday service on January 4th. 

The word ephiphany comes from the Greek meaning revelation.   On the Feast of the Epiphany, we recognize the revelation of Jesus to the Wise Men who honoured His birth with gifts.

Personal Judgment: No Church service, requires attendance if weather conditions are dangerous.

As a member of the Community of the Cross of Nails, we gather weekly at noon on Fridays to pray for peace, justice, and reconciliation.   We start our prayer with:

We stand together at this Friday noon hour to join with all those churches, schools, and other institutions who have committed themselves to the Community of the Cross of Nails. We search for reconciliation between ourselves and all those who have been harmed by war, by violence, by the effects of colonization and abuses of power, and by greed, selfishness, thoughtlessness and indifference.

Our doors are open on the first Sunday of every month for anyone to drop in for peace and reflection in the middle of our busy city.  Feel free to light a candle, say a prayer, or just sit quietly in this beautiful space. Maybe you have never been in the Cathedral and just want to have a look around?  Maybe you would just like to listen to some quiet, peaceful music?  Whoever you are, whatever brings you to our doors, you are very welcome. If you have any questions during your visit, there is someone on hand from our Cathedral Community.

Study the Bible in community through this drop-in participant-focused method of reading scripture together.  Discovery Bible Study is designed to meet the spiritual needs of our participants by considering what the biblical text tells us about God and human beings.

Celebrating 150 years since Christ’s Church Cathedral was consecrated as the cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Niagara.

The 150th Anniversary relates to the date when the Act to Incorporate the Synod of the Diocese of Niagara royal assent was received. In practice the cathedral may have obtained status earlier, but in law, it would have become a cathedral when the diocese was formally incorporated, on February 10, 1876.

In 2026, Christ’s Church Cathedral will be celebrating a remarkable milestone, 150 years of sharing God's loving transformation of our lives with our neighbourhood, through inspiring worship and music, spiritual formation and leadership development, compassionate service and advocacy alongside our neighbours, and a warm and inclusive hospitality service, presence, and partnership withinour local community.

Our handmade prayer shawls have been and blessed and are available for the congregation to give to SOMEONE THAT NEEDS A HUG FROM GOD……is sick, grieving, sad, or whatever their need.

We are pleased to advise that our numbered donation envelopes for 2026 are now ready for pick-up in the greeting area on Sundays.   You can also pick up your envelopes from the Cathedral office during office hours from Monday to Friday.   Envelope boxes are organized in alphabetical order with a label on the top left corner.

Please Note:  Unused envelopes from 2025 or prior years cannot be used in 2026 or later years as envelope numbers can change from year to year.  Unused envelopes for prior years must be shredded.  Thank you!

We have a surplus of unassigned envelopes for 2026.  If you are not using numbered envelopes and donate during services monthly or more frequently, please email Paula, our Donations Administrator.  Note:  there is no cost to the donor.
