We pray especially for those that have family and friends that have been affected by this storm. Some may remember Lauren Mais, a former parishioner now back in Jamaica, with whom we are in touch, as things develop.
We will also be monitoring updates from Alongside Hope (https://alongsidehope.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/) and will share any relief and development initiatives arising from this devastating hurricane.

Cathedral & Myler Hall Kitchen Renovations

Construction notice

Bishop Susan and the Cathedral Place Property Management Committee (CPPMC) have approved renovations to the Myler Hall kitchen, the Cathedral narthex and the entrance way to the columbarium. Our general contractor (Alto Mar) plans to begin construction some time next week and estimates that the combined projects will take about one month.

This is wonderful news for the Café and for the Cathedral community. We are deeply grateful to all those who have contributed to bringing us to this stage - it has been a team effort.

We ask for your flexibility, patience and understanding in changes necessary to accommodate the renovations. David Savage is our liaison with Alto Mar. Please feel free to raise questions or concerns with David Savage.

Many thanks. Dean Tim (on behalf of Christ's Church Cathedral Corporation)

We stand together at this Friday noon hour to join with all those churches, schools, and other institutions who have committed themselves to the Community of the Cross of Nails. We search for reconciliation between ourselves and all those who have been harmed by war, by violence, by the effects of colonization and abuses of power, and by greed, selfishness, thoughtlessness and indifference.

Urgent Need for Socks & Underwear

Urgent Need for Socks & Underwear

Cathedral Café

As the weather turns colder, our guests at the Cathedral Café are in urgent need of new socks and underwear for both men and women.  These items are often the most needed and least donated and yet make a tremendous difference in the daily comfort and dignity of those experiencing homelessness.

We kindly ask for your support in donating new socks and underwear in all adult sizes.  Donations can be dropped off in the boxes marked with Cafe Underwear & Sock Donation in the narthex on November 2nd.

Thank you for helping us serve our neighbours with compassion and care.  Your generosity truly makes a difference.

Writing Effective Letters to the Editor

Have you ever been troubled by a story of injustice, a poor decision, or a policy change by your government? Letters to the Editor show politicians and decision-makers that people really do care.  Here’s how to change the conversation, impact public opinion, and make a difference with a well constructed letter:
Checklist for Your Letter
  • Include your full name, address, and phone number (the paper needs to verify who you are).
  • Check the newspaper's word limit.
  • Keep it brief and focused.
  • Start strong: Refer to a recent article, editorial, or news event, or state your key point.
  • Use plain, clear language:  Avoid jargon, keep sentences short.
  • Make it personal and local:  Share a story, local example, or impact.
  • Be respectful but punchy:  Passion is good, but avoid insults or rants.
  • Offer a constructive point of view:  Suggest an action, solution, or next step.
  • Connect to the bigger picture:  Show why this matters - for the community or society.
  • End with a memorable close:  A call to action, a striking fact, or a values-based appeal.

Sample Letter to the Editor

The Ontario government’s replacement of the Endangered Species Act with the Species Conservation Act, 2025 is reckless and shameful. The government must reinstate enforceable provincial protections.  Anything less is a dereliction of duty that will leave a permanent scar on Ontario’s environment.

Alongside Hope

Alongside Hope

Many thanks from Kerry and Inez!

We would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Wild Ride initiative this year, be it financially or through prayer or both.  I think we all agree that the solar suitcase project was deserving of our attention and support.

The latest news is that this year's Wild Ride campaign raised $61,000 across Canada, surpassing our goal by $9,000.  Even better, Alongside Hope has raised the necessary $170,000 and with the donor match, the goal of $320,000 has been reached, meaning they are able to purchase all 49 solar suitcases.  Fantastic news!

Many thanks to all who participated and contributed, spiritually and financially.
