MASKS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Current guidelines encourage mask wearing, particularly in crowded, enclosed, and close-contact settings. Effective immediately, Bishop Susan is strengthening guidance to mirror the chief medical officer of health's strong recommendation that masks be worn in indoor settings. By doing so, and applying additional layers of protection, we will not only protect ourselves but our most vulnerable neighbours. In this way, we are also bearing strong witness to God's call to love our neighbours.

In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada  we pray for the people of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

We are looking for volunteers to fill two essential positions! If you’d like to become more involved in the life of our Cathedral—we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for an individual to maintain our child-friendly space in the Cathedral on an ongoing basis. This involves monitoring the space to ensure it’s tidy, checking that toys and books are in good condition and clean, & advising wardens of anything that requires attention. This position does not involve a huge time commitment but will make a huge difference to parents and young children attending Christ’s Church Cathedral!

We are also looking for 2 or 3 people on Saturdays to open and close the building for volunteers for Hamilton Out of the Cold (HOOTC), one of our most important ministry partners. HOOTC prepares hot ‘grab and go’ meals for up to 200 people experiencing housing and food insecurity in our neighbourhood. This volunteer role involves being at the church on Saturday from 9:45am to 10:15 to open the building and greet HOOTC volunteers and again from 4;45pm—5:15pm to close the building. We hope to assemble a small team for these duties.

To explore either of these options, please contact Elizabeth Wensley (Warden) at eawensley@gmail.com or 905-807-2596.

PWRDF

PWRDF

This Advent, as part of PWRDF's Education Focus on Creation care: climate action, you are invited to  deepen your understanding of Women and Climate Change. PWRDF is delighted to introduce its new resource, The Birth of Hope, written by renowned biblical scholar Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat.   Dr. Keesmaat connects the women of the biblical texts to our own hopes and griefs in this time of climate crisis. Each day you will receive a short scripture reading, a reflection, a prayer and a PWRDF story. Subscribe below to receive the resource daily starting November 27th, or visit www.pwrdf.org/advent2022 to download the entire PDF.   For information on ways to support PWRDF and its initiatives, please contact your Parish Representative: louise.vanwoelderen@gmail.com or at (905)387-1820.   Thank you for your continued prayers and support of PWRDF

WRESTLING ANGELS

WRESTLING ANGELS

A new monthly gathering led by Rev. Jeff, Wrestling Angels is a chance to engage with the stories of scripture in a casual setting, as we learn to ask questions of the text and encounter God in the most unlikely of places. Our next gathering is  scheduled for December 7, from 7 to 9 pm.

LECTIONARY STUDY

LECTIONARY STUDY

Join Matthew Green weekly for a lectionary study after the 2nd service each Sunday.

CATHEDRAL CAFE SEEKING CLOTHING DONATIONS

Items can be dropped off at the Cathedral on Thursday, Friday or Sunday mornings.

CHRISTMAS CARDS, VISUAL GUIDE AND CHURCH CALENDARS

CHRISTMAS CARDS, VISUAL GUIDE AND CHURCH CALENDARS

In 2008 the Cathedral started to produce Christmas  cards using images from the stained- glass windows in our Cathedral in  response to people who wished to see Nativity scenes and a greeting that included the word “Christmas”.

Cards will be on sale on Sunday mornings until December 18 for $1.25 each.

The Visual Guide to Christ’s Church Cathedral will also be available for $10.00 per copy.  The guide provides a self-guided tour of the building with many photos and short explanatory text.

2023 Church calendars are also available for sale for $5.00 each. They wil be available on Sunday mornings or by contacting the Cathedral office.

BRASS MONKEYS

The Brass Monkeys are a group who gather in the cathedral on the third Thursday morning of each month from 8:30 – noon. We have them to thank for the lustre of our brass items and polished woodwork!

If you would enjoy assisting with these tasks, they would welcome your participation. Please be in touch with the Rev. Canon Bill Thomas if you would like further information.

 More hands welcome!

THANK YOU

On behalf of her new Ukranian neighbours, Wendy Newman thanks all members of the Cathedral who have contributed so generously to their new apartment.  They now have all the cleaning materials, furniture, and supplies they need.  Thank you!

NAMETAGS

Nametags are a great way to connect and extend hospitality!

Please pick yours up in the narthex on your way into church.

If you need a new nametag, or have never had one, please sign your name on the list in the narthex or coffee area and we will be sure to prepare one for you. The greeters can point you to the list, or you can contact the church office directly.

SUNDAY WORSHIP MAILING

We'd like to connect with you!

If you are new to the parish we'd be happy to add your email address to our parish list so that you can receive regular communications. We will also provide you with a nametag.

Anyone needing a new nametag, and/or needs to update your email information, please contact the church office.
