Corporation is delighted to share with you the design plans for our 150^th anniversary project – renovation of the narthex.

As a community who loves to welcome, we are in desperate need of a more functional hospitality centre to serve those gathering in the nave for worship and other events.

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to experience Hamilton's growing art scene, do some local shopping, enjoy some downtown eateries, and visit some historical city sites.  The Cathedral has participated in Art Crawl since its inception.  Our doors are open.  Please feel free to wander in and explore the art, history,  and the beauty of our building.   We're happy to welcome you and we are available to answer any questions you may have.

Join us in the community and in the Cathedral every 2nd Friday of the month from May 2026 to October 2026.  Doors open at 7pm.

Art Crawl is a wonderful way to engage with the community and to celebrate our beautiful Cathedral!   The success of Art Crawl at the Cathedral relies heavily on volunteers.  We are currently looking for volunteers for our May 8, 2026 opening night starting at 7pm.

• We need enough volunteers to have 2 shifts, so each shift would be for 1.5 hours
• Some volunteers will be responsible for hospitality, including greeting & guest support.
• A second set of volunteers will be responsible for Cathedral tours and information. 
• Orientation and training are available for both positions.

 An Interview with Author Martha Tatarnic

We invite you to join Rev. Martha Tatarnic and Rev. Monica Green on May 13 for a provocative discussion about Anne Boleyn, her influence on Europe's political and religious landscape during her life, and why she matters today.  The event is in-person and will also be livestreamed on the Cathedral's YouTube Channel.

• Ordained on January 5, 2005, Diocese of Niagara
• Master of Divinity with Honours, Trinity College, University of Toronto, 2004
• Rector, St. George’s Anglican Church, St. Catharines
• Previous publications include Why Gather?:  The Hope and Promise of the Church (2022) and The Living Diet:  A Christian Journey to Joyful Eating (2019).
• And many personal interests!

Included is a Q & A and refreshments after the interview as well as an opportunity to buy the book.

All are very welcome to join us for the Taizé service on Sunday, May 31, at 1 pm.  At a time of great stress and anxiety for many people, the peaceful songs, contemplative readings, and candlelit prayers in Taizé worship are a balm to the heart and spirit.  You are invited, if you wish, to stay after coffee time and come up to sit in the circle of chairs near the piano. The service lasts about a half an hour.  If you have any questions about Taizé, please contact Bruce Burbidge.

If you have a garden or just a plant or two outside or on a balcony, plant native species!

They need less fertilizer, less pesticides, they are less susceptible to diseases, they are low maintenance, and they look great!  Plants also clean up our air.  And native species are not invasive.  By choosing native species, you are giving the local ecosystem (and us!) a better chance at a sustainable existence.

The internet has lots of information about native plants and invasive species,  and you can also talk to our own Bishopsgate gardeners.  You may also wish to refer to Your Guide to Ontario Native Plants .

Bishop Susan Bell would like to invite the parishioners of Christ’s Church Cathedral to attend the 2026 Bishop’s Company Fundraising Dinner on May 28, 2026.  Proceeds from the dinner provide vital discretionary funding that allows the bishop to respond strategically and compassionately to the emerging needs of our diocesan leaders, both lay and ordained.

For the first time in it’s history, the Bishop’s Company Annual Fundraising Dinner will be open to the public! Tickets for non-members are $175 each, and include a 3-course meal, pre-dinner reception, complimentary beverage, and a charitable receipt for a potion of the ticket.  Additionally, a parish table of eight can purchase for $1000 inclusive ($125 each).  

The dinner will be hosted at Carmen Events Centre in Hamilton, where Bishop Susan will be joined by Archbishop Shane Parker, 15th Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.  The event will also include a silent auction, complimentary photobooth, and musical entertainment during the reception.

The pre-dinner reception will start at 5:30 pm, with opening remarks starting at 6:30pm. 

NOTE:  Tickets are available starting May 1, with final numbers required by May 14.

People in this congregation are giving their gifts freely every day, usually so quietly, and in ways that create even more abundance, inspiration and relationship.

Our doors are open on the first Sunday of every month during the months of  October to June for anyone to drop in for peace and reflection in the middle of our busy city.  Feel free to light a candle, say a prayer, or just sit quietly in this beautiful space. Maybe you have never been in the Cathedral and just want to have a look around?  Maybe you would just like to listen to some quiet, peaceful music?  Whoever you are, whatever brings you to our doors, you are very welcome. If you have any questions during your visit, there is someone on hand from our Cathedral Community.
