Lightly used winter clothing!

The Cathedral thanks all those who so generously donated summer clothing to our Café guests.  Summer is now over and we are looking ahead to another Canadian winter.

As you know, many of our guests are unhoused or precariously housed.  The coming of winter presents the added challenge of  how to keep warm and survive another Canadian winter.   We humbly ask for your help once again to donate your lightly used winter clothing.   The Cathedral Café is looking for the following:

Winter coats/Track Pants/T-shirts/Sweatshirts/Sweaters/Socks/Sports bras/Running shoes/Winter boots/Backpacks/Toques/Gloves

The Cafe is also looking for any unwanted large mugs and board games such as scrabble, chess, backgammon etc.

Please connect with Turner or Kerry who will ensure these gifts go to our Cathedral Café guests.  Thank you for your generosity and support!

Volunteer Cooks and Assistants Needed

Volunteer Cooks and Assistants Needed

Helping those in need over Christmastide.

Wonderful Volunteers are needed to help out on Christmas Day for our Christmas Dinner,  an  opportunity to help those that desperately need food, kindness, and support during what would be a lonely, helpless time. The volume of guest this year will require us to have two meal sittings, and this will require an increase in the number of helpers required.  If you can help us to cook or serve on Christmas Day, please contact Richard Cunningham at countertenor.rc@gmail.com for more details.

If you are unable to help on the day contact Richard to see if you can assist with monetary gifts or other appropriate gift items. More details coming soon.

How about assisting by cooking meals to fill our freezer!

Pre-cooked meals are desperately needed to be given to parishioners in need over the cold Winter months. Do you know of anyone coming out of hospital that may need these meals or a family member going through trying circumstances? We would like to have a crew of four or five people to cook a large selection of meals which can be frozen and put aside for these kinds of situations.  Cooks required on Wednesday evenings from 4pm until around 8pm. Please contact Richard Cunningham at countertenor.rc@gmail.com for further details.
He will be delighted to hear from you!

PWRDF has a new name

PWRDF has a new name

Alongside Hope (in French, Auprès de l’espoir).
In 2022, a diverse team of staff, board members, and volunteers  began the process of selecting a name that better reflects PWRDF’s work and mission. Through their discussions, a central theme emerged–the importance of partnerships. PWRDF walks alongside its partners, including the Anglican Church of Canada, local and membership organizations, funding agencies, volunteers, and donors. The new name, Alongside Hope, symbolizes this ongoing journey of support, listening, and shared hope for a better world.
Please note that website and social media updates will begin on March 1, 2025, allowing PWRDF to finish 2024 tax receipts under the PWRDF name. PWRDF is excited about this change and appreciates your continued support.
To all those who have donated,  your efforts are deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Shirley May MacDougall Obituary–May 20, 1955 – October 21, 2024

The Cathedral community mark the passing of Shirley MacDougall, into God’s peaceful presence.

We give thanks for the life and witness of a talented organist and a dear friend of many, especially Gwen Peer and Pat Barton.

Shirley was an important contributor to the Hamilton music and church organ/choir music scene and member of the Hamilton executive of the Royal Canadian College of organists for many years. May Shirley rest in peace and rise in glory.
