An Open Time for Peace and Reflection - Sunday, November 1, 2026 12:30pm-2pm

From September to June our doors are open on the first Sunday of the month following the 10:30am service and coffee hour, for anyone to drop in for peace and reflection in the middle of our busy city.  Feel free to light a candle, say a prayer, or just sit quietly in this beautiful space. Maybe you have never been in the Cathedral and just want to have a look around.  Maybe you would just like to listen to some quiet, peaceful music.  Whoever you are, whatever brings you to our doors, you are very welcome. If you have any questions during your visit, there is someone on hand from our Cathedral Community.

For level access please go to the reception door to the left of the main Cathedral entrances.

Please contact Bruce Burbidge if you have any questions.

Book Study with Adam MacNeil

Book Study with Adam MacNeil

Encampment: Resistance, Grace, and an Unhoused Community - Starting Sunday, November 8, 2026

In place of Digging Deeper, the study will run on Sunday, November 8, 15, and 22 from 12:15-1:30pm in the Spence Room.

Mark your calendars for an upcoming study led by our Theological Intern, Adam MacNeil, of the book “Encampment: Resistance, Grace, and an Unhoused Community” by the Toronto author, priest, and activist Maggie Helwig.

Through reflection on scripture and stories from Helwig’s book, we will be considering the theme of “Home” - how we create and experience home in the midst of displacement, crisis, and loss.

Advance reading is not required, but strongly encouraged. Copies of the book can be purchased through Indigo, Amazon, and many independent bookstores.

Please register by emailing Adam at (theological.intern@niagaraanglican.ca) so that we can plan accordingly.

All are welcome!

The service lasts about half an hour.  If you have any questions about Taizé, please contact Bruce Burbidge.

The Carbon Cost of Clicking!

The Carbon Cost of Clicking!

CJC November Action

There is a hidden environmental impact of the digital technology we use every day.  Every email we send uses approximately 4g CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent).  Put simply, sending 65 text-only emails releases CO2 equivalent to driving an average car for 1 kilometre.  Add a big photo and it’s 50g!  It comes from the electricity used by your computer, the internet, and the big data centers that send and store it.

A short conversation with an AI chatbot uses about 500ml of water, the volume of an average water bottle.  Zoom meetings, website browsing, and cloud storage consume energy and water at an alarming rate.  Worldwide, it’s creating a massive amount of greenhouse gases!

We can reduce our digital carbon footprint by deleting unwanted emails and photos.  We can use a standard Google search rather than an AI query whichuses 10 times more electricity. These tiny acts of justice help create a just future for all.

Order of Niagara

Order of Niagara

Brock, Greater Wellington and Trafalgar - Sunday, November 22, 2026 4pm.

Since May 2000, the Diocese of Niagara has invited parishes to nominate a person from their parish annually, who has given of themselves to the parish, the diocese, and the Church.  The Bishop of the Diocese also nominates people to the Order of Niagara. It is a way of honouring the laity and the their ministry in the diocese.

On November 22, Bishop Susan Bell will install this year's nominees from Greater Wellington and Trafalgar to the Order of Niagara at a special service held at the Cathedral.

Congratulations to all recipients!

This year we are also providing 3 books for sale.  Details as follows:

  2. Plaques and Memorials of Christ's Church Cathedral is an illustrated booklet that shares stories about people who are memorialized in the building and their links to the history of the building and Hamilton.  Cost = $6.00
  3. Cathedral Café Cookbook:  Funds from these sales help to support our Café outreach for those in need. Cost = $20.00.

Both Christmas cards and books can be used as stocking stuffers!

Please Note:  The sale of Christmas cards and Cathedral books will take place before and after the 10:30 Sunday Services on November 15, 22, and 29, and December 6, 13, and 20.

A very special thank you to Sandy Darling who has led this ministry for many years.  Sandy wrote and published two of those books, took all the pictures of both books, and also took pictures of some of the stained glass windows of the Cathedral for the Christmas Cards.  Remarkable!

Parish Cycle of Prayer

Parish Cycle of Prayer

Every Sunday Eucharist we set aside a few minutes for the Prayers of the People that includes praying for the wider world and praying for ourselves and others.  Some of our parishioners have also requested that we include family members or househould members.

The Cathedral is aware that our list of family members or household members is incomplete.  If you wish to add family members (whether they live with you or not), please let us know.  The same applies for household members.  We ask that you email  our Parish Coordinator, Karen  or call her at (905) 527-1316 x240.

Please Note:  If you do not wish to use your children or grandchildren's names, it is perfectly alright to not use their names.  You can always include them by requesting "and family" or "and children" etc.

Wild Ride Result

Wild Ride Result

Alongside Hope

Alongside Hope’s Wild Ride has officially concluded.  We are happy to announce that we have surpassed our goal of $60,000 to purchase solar panels for St. Luke’s Hospital in Nablus, the West Bank.  A total of $81,033.80 was donated nationwide, more than enough to purchase and install 140 solar panels at the hospital.   Every donation made was matched by a generous donor to make this project an impactful one.  We invite you to view a 3 minute video demonstrating the full impact of those solar panels for years to come!

St. Luke’s serves 455,000 people including 57  villages and 4 refugee camps.  It is the only charitable hospital in the West Bank and consequently, 40% of its patients are uninsured.  Palestinians are covered under the Palestinian Authority which is underfunded and relies on International NGOs and local charities; this is a much needed tool to keep the hospital functioning.

Our Cathedral Crusaders reached $1,000, very generously donated for this critical cause.  Many thanks for your donations and your prayers for offering help and hope in the West Bank.

Another Way to Give

Using PayPal to make a donation can be attractive to donors.  For instance:

  • PayPal offers you the option of using your debit or credit card to make a donation.
  • You can easily set up recurring donations on PayPal or cancel your recurring donation.
  • You have the option of writing a note to the Cathedral (at the top of page 2).  For practical purposes, you can specify where your donation is to go (General funds, Choral Scholarships, Altar Flowers, etc), you can also provide your contact information, or if it's a memorial, you can let us know in whose honour you are donating.
  • It is a reliable and efficient way to donate.

Additional features to be familiar with include:

  • You have the option of covering the fees if you wish.  If not, the Cathedral covers those costs.
  • To ensure that you receive a tax receipt, please provide your mailing address - using the note option indicated above.
