Donation Envelopes 2025

Donation Envelopes 2025

We are pleased to advise that our numbered donation envelopes for 2025 will be ready for pick-up some time in December or early January.

For those who are currently using numbered envelopes:

  • If you wish to continue using numbered envelopes, no action is required on your part.
  • If  you have decided not to use numbered envelopes in 2025, please let us know.  For instance, if you have signed up for Pre-Authorized Givings or are regularly using Interac e-transfers, chances are you will not need numbered envelopes.

For those who are not using numbered envelopes, Interac e-transfers, or pre-authorized givings , you will find numbered envelopes easier and efficient.  Please let Karen, our Parish Assistant, know, and we will assign an envelope # to you.

If you'd like to know more about how numbered envelopes work, please do not hesitate to email the Cathedral Office or call 905-527-1316 x240.

Please Note:  Unused envelopes from 2024 or prior years cannot be used in 2025 or later years.  Unused envelopes must be shredded.  Thank you!

DRIVE LESS!

DRIVE LESS!

If you can, walk, carpool, ride a bike or e-bike, or take transit.

Why? The average Canadian vehicle emits 206g CO2 per km, and the average car lasts for roughly 320,000km.  That equals 66 tons of CO2 for the lifespan of the car!

Impact? Living car-free can reduce your carbon footprint by up to 3.6 tons of CO2 per year!

In anticipation of 200 to 250 guests, we will be using the Cathedral as the waiting area for our dinner guests  and also to serve dessert following the turkey dinner, which will allow for the flow of guests for the dinner.  Each guest will receive a gift card and a chocolate bar.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with:

  • Reception/greeter and /distribution of gifts on December 25 (12:30pm to 3pm)

  • Managing the overflow space in the Cathedral and serving coffee/tea/hot chocolate and the desserts (12pm to 3pm)
  • Runners and clean up crew during the meal (12:30pm to 3pm)
  • Clean up crew following the meal (2 pm to 4:30pm)

In addition to onsite volunteers, we are also needing desserts to serve on Christmas day. Desserts not requiring forks are preferred (e.g. tarts, cakes, squares, homemade cookies, etc.).  If you are able to provide dessert(s), please email Roseann Barry.

  • If you are able to assist with the dinner preparation/cooking on December 22, 23, and/or 24, please email Richard Cunningham.

Shop our World of Gifts

As December approaches, thoughts turn to Christmas baking, spending time with friends and family, and gift-giving.   Popular gift-giving options include Secret Santa exchanges, minimizing gift budgets,  or sharing gifts with others - all with a focus of acquiring fewer material items.

Currently, PWRDF has a matching program for any items purchased through their Gift Catalogue. You can spend as little as $20 for seeds for women in Kenya, or $25 for a New Baby Kit in Lesotho. Please access their catalogue at  World of Gifts.    Your gift purchase is eligible for a tax receipt from PWRDF and, more importantly, you will have made a difference in the life of others less fortunate.

Happy gift-giving to all!

Holiday Hope

St. Matthew's House Christmas Program

We are excited to announce that the Holiday Hope program is open for 2024!

To our returning sponsors, thank you for reaching out to us! And to those new to our program, we welcome you warmly! The Holiday Team at St. Matthew’s House is very excited to see what this year will bring.

There are three ways for you to donate to the Holiday Hope Program:

  1. You can adopt a specific family or senior. We will match you with a family or senior and provide you with their specific wish list.
  2. You can also help by donating a variety of gift cards or by making a monetary donation. This method helps ensure that all families and seniors get sponsored, especially those last-minute Emergency Appointments.
  3. You may simply choose to donate NEW clothing, toys, or gift cards. These items go to families or seniors who come to us after registration ends or for Emergency Appointments.

For complete program details, FAQs, and sponsor registration, please visit St. Matthew's Holiday Hope web page.

We are already so excited about the upcoming holiday season. It is because of you, your team, friends, and family that we at St. Matthew’s House are able to make the Holiday Hope Program bigger and better every year!
