Cathedral Café Donations Welcome
In July we would like all to keep Cathedral Café in your prayers and help support with home baking and treats. A good option is to pick up a big box of granola bars at COSTCO while you are there. There is a blue box of 64 that they buy for the Cafe ( less than $15). You are also encouraged to pick up frozen juices, orange juice, punches – not lemonade – so that there is more choice for the guests in the hot summer. Your support will be much appreciated. With thanks from The Generosity Team.

From the Generosity Team
What are your summer plans? Will you be working all summer, or have you been able to book time off work for a break? If you have time off, will you be travelling or remaining home for a “stay-cation”. Summer is a great season! Whether you spend time on your favourite city patio, relax at the cottage, or travel by car or plane … it can be a time of relaxation and rejuvenation. It is wonderful to be able to take a break from the regular workday grind and enjoy something different. While our routines tend to change over the summer, ministry continues at Christ’s Church Cathedral. Sunday services, Cathedral Café, pastoral care, and other events continue even though many parishioners are on vacation. Please help us avoid the “summer dip” in giving that many churches experience in July and August. While we may go on holiday, our parish does not! Please continue to your generous giving over the warmer months of the year. Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) is a great way to make sure our gifts to the church continue all year long. Forms are available on the literature rack at the back of the church if you would like to set up your giving through this effective method. |

July's Climate Action-Every Step Counts! From Climate Justice Cathedral Simple Monthly Actions * During July and August Climate Justice Cathedral invites us to look at how we can live both sustainably and faithfully in our everyday lives. For each of the items below give yourself a 3 if you are doing it now, a 2 if you are working on it and then see if you can improve your total score over the summer. Lighting: Energy efficient lighting has replaced incandescent bulbs in as many places as possible in the home Water: Where possible aerators on taps and low flow shower heads are installed to save water. Single use plastic bottles are not used. Recycled water is used on plants. Recycling: Everyone in the home understands the correct use of the blue, green and regular garbage bins. Reusable items are given to charity or offered to others for free. Vehicle use: Walking/cycling is the first choice of transportation. Public transportation is used where available. Car trips are planned to reduce excess trips. Heating & Cooling: If it is possible to change thermostats aim for winter temperatures of 17°C (63°F) at night time or if you are out during the day; and 20°C (68°F) for day time as long as this is comfortable. Summer months: set your thermostat between 24°C/74°F and 26°C/78°F, depending on humidity. Food: As much as possible locally sourced foods/beverages are used. Ethically sourced coffee, tea, cocoa and sugar are bought from trusted organizations. One or two meatless meals are prepared weekly. Gardens, Patios & Balconies: No pesticides are used. Mulching and drip watering are practised. Plants native to Ontario are bought. If an ice preventer is purchased, it is an environmentally friendly one. Kitchen: Reusable napkins are used. Material cloths - not paper towels - are used for spills/drying, etc. The microwave oven is used when possible, for heating single dishes. Cleaning: Phosphate and chlorine-free cleaning products are used for washing and cleaning. No harsh chemicals are used in the home -substitutes such as vinegar and baking soda are used instead. *Adapted from the Niagara Home Challenge Remember, no one can do it all alone but we can do it together!

Parish Mission Action Plan 2.0 Launched
Building on the success of the initial process, MAP 2.0 is now available for parishes ready to take their dreams for ministry to the next level. The MAP 2.0 is a shorter process with only one gathering and is designed to focus on listening to the Holy Spirit and our neighbours while engaging the missional imagination. The new MAP 2.0 guide builds on what has already been discerned and undertaken through an initial Mission Action Plan and invites us, as a parish, to dream bigger about God’s mission. Please be in touch with Emily Hill with any questions or to discuss how to plan and lead the MAP 2.0 process.
