Order of Niagara

Sunday, October 29, 2023

Since May 2000, the Diocese of Niagara has invited parishes to nominate a person from their parish annually, who has given of themselves to the parish, the diocese, and the Church.  The Bishop of the Diocese also nominates people to the Order of Niagara. It is a way of honouring the laity and the their ministry within the diocese.

On October 29 at 4:00pm, Bishop Susan Bell will install this year's nominees from Greater Wellington & Trafalgar to the Order of Niagara at a special service held at the Cathedral.

Congratulations to all the recipients!

Anglicanism 101 - Sunday, October 29, 2023

Anglicanism is rich with symbolism and history, but even if you've been Anglican for years, you might not know why we do all the things we do.

This series of talks is aimed at explaining the basic structure of the liturgy, some simple Anglican history (if there is such a thing), and a little about the structure and culture of the church.

Drop in when you can. And if we end up with so many questions and discussion that we run more than four sessions, so much the better!

We'll meet in the Spence Room after the second service (around 12:15pm). You're welcome if you don't know anything, and you're welcome if you know almost everything. (I could certainly still learn more from some of you!)

—Matthew Green

Capital Campaign Planning Study

Our diocese is conducting a feasibility study to gauge support for a possible $20 million parish-focused capital campaign.

Four town hall meetings will offer an opportunity to learn about the campaign, ask questions, and complete a survey. The meeting in the Hamilton area will be on Wednesday, November 15, 6:00-8:00pm at St. Michael’s, 1188 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton. An online survey, along with a fact sheet detailing the potential campaign priorities, will be available soon at niagaraanglican.ca/survey.
