A Note from the Generosity Team
Over the fall and winter, together we explored generosity. We reflected on how the concepts of abundance, thanksgiving, and Christian hospitality can become spiritual habits in each of our personal stories. With Vestry approaching, we have shifted our focus to urgency, decisions and the many convenient ways there are to give. In years past, an “intention form” was distributed and all were encouraged to decide how much they would give and then return the form to the Church office. While many did complete and submit the form, there was never enough of a response to use the forms for financial planning and budgeting. This year we are asking each of you to complete the attached “Generosity Reflection Exercise.” It is designed to remind us of the concepts we explored together and how each of them impact our willingness to give. This is a personal exercise we are not asking anyone to submit it to the office. “The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also read bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.” II Corinthians 9:6-8 Now it is our turn to respond! |

CATHEDRAL CHAT
Wednesday, February 16th at 7pm What would it truly look like for the church to be anti-racist? For our February Cathedral Chat, we will be joined by The Reverend Naomi Kabugi and Sarah Bird, two members of our diocesan anti-racism working group. Naomi and Sarah will talk with us about their group’s experiences and about how churches across our diocese might begin a similar process of intentional anti-racism work. Through our discussion, we will talk about the relationship between the difficult work of anti-racism and our own baptismal covenant. Because as Naomi and Sarah will remind us: Doing the work of anti-racism is an expression of our Christian faith. Please join us for what will prove to be a rich and important conversation. We will livestream the event on our YouTube page at 7:00pm on Wednesday February 16. There will be a Q&A session following the conversation. Viewers of the livestream will be able to ask questions through the chat feature. Members of our Cathedral parish are invited to participate in a time for reflection, sharing, and discussion via Zoom after the event at 8:15pm. For more infomation visit:

WHY BELIEVE?
Why Believe? is a new and exciting five-week course for youth across the diocese. It is not your typical confirmation class, but rather an invitation for youth who are curious or interested in exploring Christianity, the Anglican Church, sacraments, and confirmation. The five-week Zoom gatherings will be held on Wednesdays - March 30, April 6, April 20, April 27, May 4 - from 6:30-8:30pm will feature guest speakers, including Bishop Susan. Led by Sarah Bird, youth will have the opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, learn how the Holy Spirit works within our daily lives, and connect with new people. The process of this course does lead to confirmation; however, there is always the choice. Why Believe? is also being offered in-person, as permitted, on April 3, 10, 14-15, 24 at St. John, Ancaster. |
