FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY
It is a long tradition in the Anglican Church to have fresh flowers in the Sanctuary each Sunday. The Anglican Church of Canada has stated “often there are flowers to beautify God's house and to recall the resurrection of Jesus.” At the Cathedral fresh flower arrangements have been sponsored by an individual or family as a memorial or thanksgiving and a dedication has been noted in the weekly Chronicle. In recent years, however, costs have increased and currently the cost of two arrangements is $130.00. Our florist is very conscientious in providing the best they can at a reasonable cost but this amount may be beyond the reach of someone wishing to mark a special anniversary or occasion. Here are two other options: · Sponsor a fresh flower arrangement around the Paschal Candle (similar to what you see at Easter). The Paschal Candle will be on the floor to the left of the Chancel steps. The cost of this arrangement would be $60.00. · Make a donation in any amount to the Memorial Fund or to the Altar Guild. These funds are used for long-lasting legacy projects around the Cathedral. A dedication will appear in the Chronicle to mark this donation. On the Sundays where there is no sponsor for fresh arrangements, silk flowers will be used. A note about the placement of the flowers in the Sanctuary: We are blessed to have a beautiful stone Reredos (ornamental screen behind the altar) at the Cathedral. The stonework is so intricate that often flower arrangements are not shown to their best advantage. Also, the option of receiving communion at a standing altar on the main level means that parishioners are not in the Sanctuary to see the flowers at the altar. Placing the flowers (fresh arrangements or silk) on stands at the Chancel steps will allow them to be seen by all. If you have any questions or would like further information about sponsoring flowers at the Cathedral, please don’t hesitate to contact me. DIGGING DEEPER
Did the homily stir up anything in you? Are there questions you'd like to explore about the readings? Do you have a burning desire to have someone awkwardly attempt to explain Greek verb tenses to you based on six seconds of quick research? Then come join us in the Living Room after the second service each Sunday around 12:15pm! We continue to talk each week about what strikes us from the homily and the scripture readings and do our best to explore the connections to our lives. We'd love to have you contribute your thoughts to the conversation. |

Masks Strongly Recommended
Current guidelines encourage mask wearing, particularly in crowded, enclosed, and close-contact settings. Effective immediately, Bishop Susan is strengthening guidance to mirror the chief medical officer of health's strong recommendation that masks be worn in indoor settings. By doing so, and applying additional layers of protection, we will not only protect ourselves but our most vulnerable neighbours. In this way, we are also bearing strong witness to God's call to love our neighbours. |

A PRAYER FOR PALM SUNDAY
Artist of souls, Help us as we take up your invitation to prayer and simplicity, that the discipline of these forty days may sharpen our hunger for the feast of your holy friendship, and whet our thirst for the living water you offer through Jesus Christ. Amen.
