DIGGING DEEPER

DIGGING DEEPER

  Break out the metaphorical shovels!

If you'd like to talk and explore more about the week's readings and Sunday's homily, we'd love to have you!

Come dig deeper with us in the Living Room after the second service each Sunday around 12:15. Together we can generate some insightful discussion and rich connections between scripture and our daily lives. And to tide us over, we'll bring a bite to eat as well.

* Please note there will be no meeting on February 19 for Vestry Sunday but we will resume on February 26!

Death Toll from Last Week's Catastrophic Earthquake in Turkey/ Syria Surpasses 41,000

This disaster, with a combined death toll in Turkey and neighbouring Syria exceeding 41,000, has ravaged cities and communities in both countries.

Miraculously, survivors are still being rescued from the rubble in Turkey more than a week after the massive earthquake struck, as the focus of the aid effort has shifted to helping the 26 million people across both countries needing humanitarian assistance. There are also growing concerns over emerging health issues linked to the cold weather, hygiene and sanitation, and the spread of infectious diseases, with vulnerable people especially at risk.

Please keep the people affected by this devastating earthquake in your prayers.

Donations can be made to support PWRDF’s response on their website at www.pwrdf.org. Also, you can call 416-822-9083 (or leave a message toll-free at 1-866-308-7973 and your call will be returned). Alternatively, you can also donate by mail. Send your cheque to PWRDF, 80 Hayden Street, 3rd Floor, Toronto, ON, Canada, M4Y 3G2. Please indicate the Syrian Earthquake in the memo field.   For additional information on other ways to support PWRDF, please contact your Parish Representative at louise.vanwoelderen@gmail.com or 905-387-1820

Cathedral Offertory

Cathedral Offertory

The Cathedral has now resumed the passing of Offering Plates. The plates will be passed by the Greeters and brought to the altar with the elements. You may recall this was suspended at the beginning of the pandemic, when there was uncertainty about how the virus was spread, and replaced by a box near the Narthex. At the Offertory, we offer back some of what God has given us, symbolically in the bread and wine, and in our contributions toward the work of the church. All are invited to support the sharing of God’s love with the world through giving by Pre-Authorized Payment, online through our website (for details, please use link below) or by weekly envelope.

Masks Strongly Recommended

Current guidelines encourage mask wearing, particularly in crowded, enclosed, and close-contact settings. Effective immediately, Bishop Susan is strengthening guidance to mirror the chief medical officer of health's strong recommendation that masks be worn in indoor settings. By doing so, and applying additional layers of protection, we will not only protect ourselves but our most vulnerable neighbours. In this way, we are also bearing strong witness to God's call to love our neighbours.

Flowers

If you would like to place flowers at the altar or at the chancel steps to honour or to celebrate your loved ones, please contact

Donelle de Vlaming (289-239-9649).

The donation for the flowers is $130
