The Cathedral held an art display in November 2023, that told the story of the creation of the cushions and kneelers to honour the work of the original twenty women who undertook the task of making the cushions and kneelers in the 1960s and 1970s.  The display also explained the symbolism used and provided insight to rug-hooking and the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild.  The renewal process of the cushions and kneelers in 2023 is also described.

For those who may not have had the opportunity to see the display, we are pleased to provide the story here in six sections:

  1. Rug-hooking:  The Craft and its Origins
  2. Creating the Cusions & Kneelers of Christ's Church Cathedral
  3. The Cushions:  Crests of other Anglican Entities
  4. The Cushions:  Crests of Guild Crafts Represented in the Cathedral
  5. Communion Rail Kneelers
  6. Renewal of a Legacy
