The Columbarium is part of the All Souls Chapel located in the lower level of the Cathedral. Built in 1992, largely through the generosity of many parishioners, the Columbarium offers perpetually endowed care for the remains of those who choose cremation.
All Souls Chapel is used throughout the year for occasional services, as a place for devotions, and as a place of vigil and meditation during Holy Week. The Columbarium is open for visitation during Cathedral office hours and Sunday services. Invitations are sent to niche owners or to their families for the annual All Souls Service celebration which includes those inurned in the Columbarium.
An expansion of the Columbarium was completed over the summer of 2013 with the addition of ninety-nine new niches. Niches may be purchased by members of the Cathedral, the Diocese, and the community at large and may be reserved by advance purchase or obtained when needed. The purchaser receives a burial rights certificate signed by the Dean of the Cathedral attesting to the ownership of a specific niche as personal property and reciting the rights in detail. The arrangements for inurnment may be made with your own rector in cooperation with the Cathedral staff.
